How Many Panels Do You Need?

The process of working out how many panels you need for any given room is actually simpler than you might imagine. All you need is a tape measure, calculator and a bit of background info on how well insulated your home is.

First, you need to measure the length, width and height of your room. By multiplying these numbers together, you can obtain the volume of the room in cubic metres, or m³.

Then, depending on how well insulated your home is, you can make an estimation on how much power you need per cubic metre.

Generally, homes that are poorly insulated (built before 1930) need 30W per m³, those that are moderately insulated (built between 1930-1980) need 25W per m³, and well insulated homes (built after 1980 or have been recently reinsulated) need just 20W per m³.

From here, you just need to multiply the volume of the room by the recommended wattage per cubic metre, to get the total wattage requirement. Now you can start to consider different strength panels.

For example, if your total required wattage is 1100W, then a set of two 580W panels would be perfect.

Infrared however is far cleaner and healthier, as it doesn’t spread dust and germs. The waves also penetrate the skin and promote increased blood flow throughout the body, resulting in quicker healing and greater levels of oxygen reaching the muscles.
