The 995 x 1195 x 22mm sized panel is made with a FIR coating on its upper most layer, and consumes 1200W of energy whilst it beams out a series of infrared waves.

Despite the surface temperatures of up to 95^oC, it is entirely safe to touch for short periods of time. What Is Infrared?

To put it simply, infrared is a type of energy that travels in waves. It’s really similar to other types of energy that we use every day – like radio waves for communication, microwaves to heat up food, or x-rays to do scans in hospitals.

The only difference between all these different types of waves are the amount of space between each peak, or, the wavelength.

Infrared is felt in the form of heat, and is in fact the same kind of heat emitted by the sun, though our panels thankfully lack the harmful UV rays!

The waves travel through the air until the hit an object, at which point the object absorbs some of the energy in the waves – the rest simply bounces off. In effect, this means that infrared heats objects instead of the air.
