Heating St Margaret Clitherow’s Catholic Primary School’s Mobile Library

One of the best things about Infrared Heating is just how versatile and flexible they are. Thanks to the slender profile, light weight and incredible energy efficiency, some of our clients have been able to do some amazing installations using our panels.

None more so than St Margaret Clitherow’s Catholic School’s brand new mobile library.

The Project

The project, headed by Alex Adams from Titan Trailers, involved repurposing an old bus donated by Stagecoach, into a reading area/library for the pupils of the primary school.

Naturally, protecting the books themselves from the problem of mould and dampness in such a cold area made the job of heating that much harder.

That, and of course keeping the pupils warm enough that they would want to stay to read!

Choosing The Right Heaters

That’s when, after a quick Google search, Alex proposed using Mirrorstone infrared panels from Surya Heating for the project, citing their good value, size, ease of use and heat output as why they were perfect for the job.

Once the three 700W NXT Gen Panels had arrived, it took his electrician barely any time at all to install, saying they were “a dream” to work with.

They fitted perfectly along the ceiling of the bus, providing even distribution of warmth throughout.

What made life even easier was how Alex was able to control all three panels from a single NXT Gen remote, making it super simple to regulate the temperatures inside the bus, and ensure a comfortable level of heat.

The End Result

With Alex’s expert refit done, complete with new electrical wiring, exterior paint job, book shelves, carpet, furniture, and of course, heating, it’s barely believable that this library used to be a bus!

Not only is this now a relaxed environment for the school pupils to read in, but it’s also an incredibly warm place too - with Alex having to switch the heating off, despite it being Winter, because it got too hot!

The staff are over the moon at the results too. The caretaker is able to switch them on before the beginning of the day, and they’re able to get from around 10°C to a much warmer 18°C within an hour.

Best of all however, is being able to provide the pupils of St Margaret Clitherow’s Catholic School a welcoming and warm place to read and learn.
